It doesn't hurt your back, or strain your back, we used it to carry our cat around. He grew into it but he loves it! The straps are the same as the actual carry bag it's like a big purse- just for cats. - or whichever animal you choose to put in it. To clean, you just throw it in the washer or hand wash and hang somewhere to dry! I love the build quality because it gives us security knowing the strap won't come undone. Great pet carrier. I highly reccomend. We love ours!
